Artist´s Statement
I choose my techniques and materials based on content. I consider myself a painter who also makes assemblages and installs materials in space.
My holistic understanding of humanity influences my artistic work. Human fragility and pain invite me to work. I am excited by topics that deal with the mind and the meanings it produces. Bodily emotions, such as terrible shame and overwhelming anger, fascinate me. Beneath the skin of separate individual You can find hope for connection, for unity.
I find myself often returning to the darkness that brings me security and its shades of blue – those last wavelengths of light that I can still sense for a moment before the lights go out completely. The light shines trough the dark tones. I erase dark tones that covers the light underneath.
I work and live in Oulu, Northern Finland. I graduated as a bachelor of Culture and Art from the Turku University of Applied Sciences’ Art Academy. My art works have been exhibited in exhibitions in, among others, Oulu, Fiskars, Tampere, Lahti and Helsinki.
